Click Issues Statement on Senate Bill 52
State Rep. Gary Click (R-Vickery) has issued the following statement after Senate Bill 52 was signed into law earlier today:
“One of the most important things we can do as state legislators is to listen to the input of our fellow constituents. I can confidently tell you that Ohioans within Seneca County vehemently spoke out against a wind project being built within their communities – Senate Bill 52 being signed into law solidifies their right to local control over these types of projects.
“The bill allows for the local input of county boards on whether to permit or prevent power siting board certification of certain wind and solar projects. Additionally, the legislation establishes decommissioning requirements for certain wind and solar facilities.
“It should be up to local citizens and their local officials on whether or not they approve of a project being built within their neighborhoods. Now, with this bill, that finalized decision comes to them to make the choice of what they want in their communities. I’m proud to stand by the Ohio families of Seneca County and thank them for the concerns they’ve raised on this issue from start to finish. Their intense citizen activism has demonstrated that the common person, properly motivated, does indeed have a voice in their government. Their voices have been heard from the local courthouse to the statehouse and now the governor's mansion and they along with Senator Bill Reineke deserve tremendous credit for seeing this through to the end.”
