COLUMBUS – State Representative Gary Click (R-Vickery) is pleased to announce that Sandusky County has received a grant as a part of the new Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program.

The program is a product of the Ohio State Operating Budget known as House Bill 110 and Representative Click supported the budget allowing for the creation of this program.

“The Brownfield Remediation Program will help so many abandoned industrial sites throughout the state find a new lease on life, one being right here in Sandusky County at the former Atlas Industries,” said Click.

Atlas industries was originally developed as a custom machine shop in 1943 and there are five existing structures on the property that are in deteriorating condition with partial roof collapse occurring on two of the structures.

Through the Brownfield Remediation Program, $189,823 has been made available to conduct an assessment and complete any needed remediation. Afterward, the land bank plans to demolish the blighted structures and prepare for redevelopment of the site.
