Pavliga Sworn-In as State Representative for the 75th Ohio House District
Today, State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) was sworn-in for her first term of office as the state representative for the 75th Ohio House District. The district includes most of central and southern Portage County.
“I am very honored and thrilled for this opportunity to be officially serving as the state representative for the 75th District,” said Pavliga. “I understand times have been tough as families have struggled amid this pandemic, but I want to assure the people across Portage County that I intend to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address these rising concerns over the course of the next two years under my term of office.”
Prior to being elected to the House, Pavliga has been heavily involved throughout the community such as being a Sunday school teacher, serving as a host volunteer family for the Alliance Area Ulster Project, and supporting several recreational and community sports teams. She has also served as a member and previous Vice President of the Portage County Republican Women’s Club.
One of Pavliga’s proudest achievements was receiving her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Akron. She also received a Master’s Degree in Individual/Family Studies/Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology/Science both from Kent State University.
Pavliga has also been a college professor since 1999 and is a small business owner.
Pavliga acknowledges several of her priorities for the upcoming year includes focusing on mental health and opioid addiction, increasing funding for higher education and vocational education, and helping small businesses as they have struggled financially due to COVID-19.
“With a background as a psychologist helping those facing drug addictions and as a small business owner, I truly believe I can make a positive impact on these issues,” Pavliga added.
Pavliga encourages constituents to reach out to her office with any questions, concerns, or ideas at Rep75@ohiohouse.gov.
Today’s swearing-in ceremony of legislators marks the beginning of the 134th General Assembly.
