Pavliga Supports $5.7 Million Coming to Portage County
State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announces $5.75 million coming to Portage County as the State Controlling Board approved several project measures earlier today. Pavliga supported the initiatives through legislation at the Statehouse.
“It’s such a pleasure to be at the Statehouse to advocate for these amazing projects and initiatives to benefit our communities and residents,” Pavliga said. “It’s important we continue to provide funding for upgrades to our higher education facilities and programs. We want to optimize our potential for learning opportunities for students across the state and these appropriations allow our colleges to remain competitive to attract students here in Portage County so they can seek their full potential.”
The measures and allocations approved for Portage County include the following:
- Kent State University - $3,769,015 – For various equipment, improvement and maintenance projects
- Kent State University - $959,999 – For the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program to recruit Ohio residents to enroll in STEM certificate programs
- NEOMED - $1,000,000 – Supporting the creation of the Dental School
- Buchert Memorial Park - $23,116 – Improvements and repairs
Pavliga supported bills providing the funds for the projects, including both the state operating budget and the capital budget.
The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2023.
