Pavliga Highlights Millions for Portage County Investments

State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announces that several measures for various projects across Portage County were recently approved by the State Controlling Board. Pavliga applauded the initiatives.
“I’m very pleased to see the Controlling Board moving forward on these strong investments for our area, which will lead to more jobs,” said Pavliga. “This body has given Portage County many project approvals this past year. It’s exciting to see these latest ones addressing infrastructure and other improvements coming to Ravenna, Kent and Schalersville Township.”
At the meeting this week, the Controlling Board approved the following projects for Portage County:
- $11,969,959 for improvements to the White Hall facility at Kent State University;
- $201,900 for water distribution system improvements at the Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center in Ravenna;
- $367,000 in roadwork development grants for public roadwork improvements that are expected to deliver 72 new full-time jobs and generate $4,735,474 in new annual payroll; and
- $61,313 for parking lot development at Shalersville Park.
The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2022.
