Pavliga Announces Funding for Workforce Opportunities at Kent State University
State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announces funding coming to Kent State University (KSU) through the Workforce Based Training and Equipment Regionally Aligned Priorities in Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) program in Portage County. The funding was approved during Monday’s State Controlling Board meeting.
“This grant program comes from appropriations through legislation we passed in the General Assembly this past year,” said Pavliga. “I was proud to support this funding that will advance our workforce training and opportunities through higher education here in Portage County.”
Pavliga cosponsored and supported House Bill 597, which provided the funding for this grant initiative.
KSU was awarded the RAPIDS grant of $25,000 offered by the Ohio Department of Higher to focus on Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics at the institution.
The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 29.
