State Representative Angie King (R-Celina) today introduced new legislation – the Ohio Business Investment Act – which works to prohibit companies owned or controlled by a Foreign Country of Concern from receiving state tax credits, grants, loans, economic development incentives, or other forms of state financial assistance.

“Ohio taxpayers should not be required to subsidize companies tied to foreign adversaries,” said King. “State economic development programs should support businesses that invest in Ohio, create jobs for Ohio workers, and strengthen America's economic and national security.”

This bill is modeled after similar legislation enacted in Florida, Texas, and Indiana to ensure taxpayer-funded incentives support domestic investment rather than benefit strategic competitors.

If passed, the Ohio Business Investment Act would support American and Ohio-based businesses, create good-paying jobs for Ohioans, and keep taxpayer dollars invested in Ohio’s economy.

This bill awaits a number and committee assignment.
