Rep. David Thomas Applauds $4 Million State Investment in Ashtabula County Greenway Trail Project

State Representative David Thomas (R-Jefferson) is pleased to share that the Ashtabula County Metroparks’ Pymatuning Valley Greenway Trail project will receive $4 million in state funding through the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP).

This award will support the construction of a 1.9-mile multi-purpose trail between Slater Road and the Pennsylvania state line in Williamsfield Township. The project will also include two steel beam bridges and a parking area.

“This trail is a great asset for residents and visitors in Ashtabula County and a wonderful resource for folks to get out and be active. I appreciate this investment in Ashtabula County and the new additions that will help complete this project,” said Thomas.

The Pymatuning Valley Greenway Trail is designed to provide a multi-purpose recreational connection through Ashtabula County and into Pennsylvania. Phase 1.4 of this project will extend the trail closer to the state line while adding infrastructure to improve accessibility and connectivity for trail users.

The $21 million investment, announced by Governor Mike DeWine and ODOT Director Pamela Boratyn, will support 17 bicycle and pedestrian projects in 16 Ohio counties through TAP. To read more about the program and the other awardees, click here.
