Representative Troy Retains his Position as Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Committee Along with Other Important Committee Assignments
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Daniel Troy (D-Willowick) today announced his committee assignments for the 136th (2025 – 2026) General Assembly.
Rep. Troy will again serve as ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which is primarily responsible for legislation dealing with taxation and state government revenue.
“The mission of the Ways and Means Committee is to ensure that the revenues necessary to fund the state budget are generated as responsibly and fairly as possible. I look forward to stressing that our tax code does not overburden those least able to pay, and I’m especially hopeful that we can finally work on and accomplish some meaningful property tax reform and relief,” said Rep. Troy.
Rep. Troy will also again serve as a member of the House Finance Committee, which is responsible for drafting and recommending the provisions of Ohio’s two-year operating budget bill this year and the state’s capital expenditure bill next year.
Additionally, he will serve on the House Transportation Committee, which oversees the transportation budget bill, the second-largest area of state spending after the operating budget. Rep. Troy believes creating and passing the budget is the legislature’s most important responsibility, as it sets the priorities and expectations for the next two years. As a result of these key appointments, he will be serving on the front lines in the process of crafting the state of Ohio’s three most important budget bills this General Assembly.
“The state’s biennial budget is the most important public policy decision that we make, as it defines Ohio’s priorities over the next two years. I have been able to be part of the finance or appropriations committee process at the local, county, and state levels, and I’m confident that my experience will help me make wiser decisions that benefit the citizens of my district and the State of Ohio,” said Rep. Troy.
Rep. Troy will also serve on the House Government Oversight Committee, which generally functions as the watchdog to ensure that the various state agencies are carrying out their mission as it was defined by the General Assembly in that entity’s legislative authorization.
