Rep. Troy Secures $300K to Save Lake Overlook Park
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Daniel P. Troy (D-Willowick) secured $300K to assist in the repair and restoration of the Lake Overlook Park. The funding will come from the recently passed State Capital Budget. Rep. Troy attended the most recent Mentor-on-the-Lake City Council meeting to publicly announce the good news.
“I was pleased and proud to attend this month’s Mentor-on-the-Lake City Council meeting and present a ceremonial check to Mayor Eva and the Members of Council for $300K. I was successful in requesting and obtaining this appropriation as part of Ohio's biennial capital budget. The city had asked me to seek this amount to assist in the repair and restoration of the Lake Overlook Park at the end of the Reynolds Road. I am glad to be able to deliver on this request and assist Mentor-on-the-Lake officials in restoring safe access for their citizens to enjoy the lakefront,” said Rep. Troy.
The Lake Overlook Beach Park provides the public access to another Lake Erie Beach. A playground area and a gazebo are located on the park premises.
“I am very happy that we were able to get the amount that we asked for. Thank you to Rep. Troy who was able to get us the full amount needed to complete this project. I can’t thank him enough. With the erosion issues that we have had this will save the only park we have. He has always been helpful to the entire Lake County community and not just one or two cities in the county,” said Mentor-on-the-Lake Mayor Dave Eva.
