Rep. Sweeney issues statement on Ohio losing a congressional seat
State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) today issued the following statement regarding the news that Ohio will lose one of its sixteen seats in the U.S. House of Representatives according to U.S. Census data:
“Unfortunately but unsurprisingly, this U.S. Census data confirms what many Ohioans already knew to be true: After decades of one party rule in Columbus and policymakers refusing to invest in our communities, the Buckeye State continues to fall behind. Ohio is one of the most moved out of states in the nation as young people look to other, more welcoming states for opportunity. It doesn’t have to be this way.
“Regardless of party, no one should be satisfied with Ohioans having less of a say in their government. I am committed to a fair and comprehensive redistricting process, one where we work together and make good on the hard-fought reforms that the voters overwhelmingly backed in 2018.”
