Rep. Sweeney Announces $4.2M for Greater Cleveland RTA
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) last week announced that $4.2M in state funding has been awarded to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) by the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Urban Transit Program. The funds are appropriated from the FY 2024-2025 Transportation Budget, which Rep. Sweeney helped pass as Ranking Member of the House Finance Committee.
“Thousands of Northeast Ohio residents utilize public transit every day to get to work, visit family, and go to the grocery store,” said Rep. Sweeney. “With these funds, we can build a more accessible, interconnected community that works for everyone, not just those who own a vehicle.”
Grant funds will be used for a number of purposes including fleet expansion, replacement vehicles, new technologies, and facility upgrades.
