Bride Rose Sweeney appointed to 14th Ohio House District, sworn in as state representative
Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) today was officially appointed and sworn in to fill the vacancy as state representative to the 14th Ohio House District, a position she’ll hold in the 133rd General Assembly after winning her Nov. 6 election. Sweeney will be the first woman to represent the 14th District, and at age 26, the youngest.
“I am grateful to my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and to the citizens who have put their trust in me to be the voice for our community at the Statehouse,” said Sweeney. “Taxpayers deserve strong, accountable leadership in Columbus that will fight for better jobs, increased access to healthcare and strong communities. I look forward to meeting that challenge head-on and doing the hard work that gives more people the tools they need for a better life.”
Born and raised in Cleveland, Rep. Sweeney earned her undergraduate degree from John Carroll University and has experience working as a staffer in the state legislature. Sweeney is the daughter of former-state Rep. Martin J. Sweeney, who also served the 14th Ohio House District in the legislature.
Rep. Sweeney will serve the citizens of Brooklyn, Brook Park, Middleburg Heights, Parma Heights and large portions of Cleveland’s west side in Cuyahoga County.
