Representative Roemer Announces $500,000 for School Safety Grants
State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announces $500,000 coming to Summit County schools. The initiative was made possible through legislation Roemer cosponsored and supported to strengthen school security. The funding stems from House Bill 687, which allocates $100 million for this grant program.
“Security for our students and staff is so important, not only for them but of course for all our parents out there wanting the utmost of safety for their children,” said Roemer. “I’m proud to have sponsored the funds for this great program upgrading and modernizing the security measures in Ohio schools.”
In August, Roemer announced that the School Safety Grant Program was accepting applications, which resulted in these latest award announcements for the program. Copley-Fairlawn City Schools were awarded $500,000, specifically:
- Arrow Head Primary - $100,000
- Copley High School - $100,000
- Copley Middle School - $100,000
- Fort Island Primary - $100,000
- Herberich Elementary - $100,000
The grant program is to assist districts with physical security enhancements, such as security cameras, public address systems, automatic door locks, visitor badging systems, and exterior lighting.
