House Democrats Unanimously Elect Ashley Bryant Bailey to Fill Vacant House District 26 Seat in Cincinnati
COLUMBUS – The Ohio House Democratic Caucus today voted unanimously on the floor of the Ohio House of Representatives to appoint Cincinnati's Ashley Bryant Bailey as the next state representative for Ohio House District 26.
“Being sworn in during a government shutdown is a sobering reminder of what’s at stake. Ohio stands at a crossroads: we can look backward in times of struggle, discrimination, and inequity—or we can choose progress, equality, and a brighter future. I choose to look to the future. This moment requires leaders who put people first, who will fight for working families, protect access to healthcare, and ensure every Ohioan has the chance to thrive. I am honored and humbled by this appointment and will not take it for granted. From this day forward, I will work tirelessly for the people of District 26 and for a stronger Ohio,” said Rep. Bryant Bailey.
Rep. Bryant Bailey is a native of Cincinnati, graduated from Walnut Hills High School and attended college at the University of Cincinnati.
“We are excited for Rep. Bryant Bailey to join the Ohio House Democratic Caucus where she will bring her dedication and extensive experience as a public servant to represent the people of Cincinnati and the State of Ohio,” said House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati).
In accordance with Article II, Section 11 of the Ohio Constitution, the appointment of Rep. Bryant Bailey was passed with a simple majority floor vote by the members of the caucus for which the seat was vacated.
