State Rep. Andrea White (R-Kettering) today took the oath of office for her first term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. She represents the 41st House District, which consists of Centerville, Kettering, Oakwood, and parts of Dayton and Riverside in Montgomery County.

“I will be actively working to listen and advocate for the issues most important to our region,” said White.  “All voices need a seat at the table so that together we can solve problems for the very difficult challenges facing our families, businesses, schools and communities.”

“I look forward to partnering with many individuals and groups in our community and in Columbus to help keep our region moving forward,” said White.  “I’m planning to use this collaborative focus, along with drawing on my past public sector, private business and community leadership experiences to help us work together to innovate and improve how government works for all Ohioans.”

White served as the Clerk of Court for Kettering Municipal Court from 2004 until she was elected to the House.  The court’s jurisdiction includes Kettering, Centerville, Washington Township and Moraine.  She previously served as long-time legislative co-chair and was president of the Ohio Association of Municipal/County Court Clerks.

Before her time on the court, White ran a consulting business providing communications and process improvement solutions to corporations, small businesses and nonprofits for 15 years, worked for a statewide developmental disabilities networking and advocacy organization, and served as a hospital communications professional.

White has also been a leader in helping to launch initiatives to address teen alcohol and drug prevention, addiction, hunger and criminal justice issues.  She helped found the South Suburban Coalition and served as long-time chair and board member for Kettering’s Partners for Healthy Youth. She has also been active in the region’s effort to combat the opioid epidemic and substance use, serving on the Montgomery County Community Overdose Action Team, the Montgomery County Drug-Free Coalition and the Montgomery County Prevention Coalition.

A long-time resident in the 41st District, White graduated from Centerville High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Wright State University.  She currently resides with her husband in Kettering, where they raised their three daughters.
