State Board Releases Funding for Eagle Creek Wildlife Area
COLUMBUS— This week the Ohio State Controlling Board approved funding for the expansion of the Eagle Creek Wildlife Area in Brown County.
“I was thrilled to support this funding through legislation in order to expand this incredible area,” State Rep. Adam Bird (R-New Richmond) said. “Brown County is lucky to have this awesome resource, and I am excited to see this funding benefit our community.”
The funding was allocated through House Bill 110, which Bird cosponsored and supported last year. The bill was later signed into law.
The Eagle Creek Wildlife Area is set to receive $100,000 to acquire 32.88 acres of lands to increase recreational opportunities and increases habitat space. These funds will be allocated through a grant program created by the operating budget.
The Ohio State Controlling Board is the financial legislative oversight for capital and operating expenditures by state agencies. The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for Oct. 24.
