Speaker Rosenberger Issues Statement on the Signing of Am. Sub. HB 49, Governor's Vetoes
COLUMBUS—Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) released a statement on the signing of the state operating budget and Governor Kasich’s vetoes:
"In light of tonight's signing of the state's biennial operating budget, I want to thank my legislative colleagues, particularly President Obhof, for working together to craft a fiscally responsible, conservative budget to send to Governor Kasich. The growth rate of this budget is under the rate of inflation and significantly reduces spending, while still being responsive to the needs of all Ohioans. Despite the challenges we faced, I am grateful that the legislature and administration worked together throughout the process and I am proud of the work we accomplished to balance the budget.
“As far as the Governor’s vetoes are concerned, there are some provisions that we will need to take a closer look at over the next several days. Through the holiday weekend, we will be discussing with the members of our caucus the best possible course of action to take."
