Speaker Rosenberger Issues Statement Following Announcement of Barbara Sears Being Named Director of Medicaid Department

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) today issued a statement regarding the announcement that Barbara Sears has been named to fill the role of Director for the Ohio Department of Medicaid following John McCarthy’s departure in December.

“John McCarthy has played a pivotal role in providing excellent guidance and leadership on the issue of health care and Medicaid in the state of Ohio. I want to thank him and recognize him for his service in working every day to bring about a better quality of life for all Ohioans.

“I also want to congratulate my friend and colleague Barbara Sears on her new position as director for the Ohio Department of Medicaid. As a former House member and member of the House leadership team who was a vital point person on the issue of Medicaid, I can think of no one better suited or prepared to fill this very important role than Barb. I very much look forward to working with her and the rest of the department as we continue to modernize and improve our Medicaid system for the benefit and health of Ohio families.”
