Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) today released the following statement on the Legislature’s approval of Governor Kasich’s request to hold the 2014 State of the State Address in Medina:

“I’m pleased that my hometown of Medina has been selected to be the third Ohio city to be showcased during Governor Kasich’s State of the State Address by my colleagues. Medina is truly a great American city with hardworking people and tightknit communities, and I think it is very fitting that it has been chosen by the governor for such a momentous occasion. The governor’s commitment to making state government more accessible to the people and bringing this yearly address to cities across Ohio further demonstrates the openness of his administration. Medina and other cities across Ohio have contributed greatly to our state’s success and I look forward to next month’s event.”

Representative Dave Hall (R-Millersburg) released the following statement:

“I couldn’t be happier for Medina County and northeast Ohio. This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase the best of Medina County, our achievements and strengths. Northeast Ohio has never seen anything like this visit, and the governor’s intent to deliver the address in our community is a clear sign of our region’s importance to the state’s continued success. I’m proud to represent Medina County with Speaker Bill Batchelder, and I look forward to working with him and local leaders to promote northeast Ohio during this very special time."
