Speaker Batchelder Announces Summer Legislative Study Committees
Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) announced the creation of three bipartisan summer legislative study committees to conduct a series of hearings around the state focused on specific topics.
“One of the most important responsibilities of the legislature is to provide review and oversight on state policies, programs and initiatives to ensure they are being utilized efficiently and effectively,” said Speaker Batchelder. “The committees present an opportunity to hear from experts and others impacted by these policies to learn more and help us make well-informed policy decisions.”
The committees and their chairs are as follows:
• Higher Education Reform (Rep. Cliff Rosenberger, chair; Rep. Christina Hagan, vice chair)
• Prescription Drug Addiction and Healthcare Reform (Rep. Robert Sprague, chair; Rep. Ryan Smith, vice chair)
• Tax Reform (Rep. Gary Scherer, chair; Rep. Doug Green, vice chair)
These study committees will hold a series of hearings across the state through August and September to gather information from both citizens and experts alike to assist in formulating a final report and possible legislative recommendations.
Attached is the full roster of legislative study committee rosters. Further details on the agenda and locations for meetings of the study committees will be released in the near future.
