Speaker Batchelder Announces House Committee Changes
Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) today announced a series of changes to the leadership of several standing committees in the Ohio House of Representatives effective today.
The changes are as follows:
• Rep. Jeff McClain (R-Upper Sandusky): Chairman, Ways & Means
• Rep. Gary Scherer (R-Circleville): Vice chair, Ways & Means
• Rep. Terry Boose (R-Norwalk): Vice chair, Finance and Appropriations
“Representatives McClain, Scherer and Boose have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the important work of the Ohio House of Representatives,” Speaker Batchelder said. “Each of these members understands the complexity surrounding a variety issues from the state budget to severance taxes and beyond. I am honored that they have agreed to serve in these new leadership roles.”
Rep. McClain is serving his third term in the Ohio House. In addition to serving as Chairman of Ways & Means, he will remain as a member of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee.
Rep. Scherer was first appointed to the Ohio House in 2012 and was elected outright later that year. As vice chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, he will also continue his service on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee as well as the Financial Institutions, Housing, and Urban Development Committee.
Rep. Terry Boose is serving his third term in the Ohio House. In addition to serving as vice chair of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee, he will maintain membership on the State and Local Government Committee and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.
