Rep. Adams Applauds Passage of Keystone Pipeline Resolution

State Representative John Adams (R-Sidney) today applauded the passage of House Concurrent Resolution 9 through the Ohio House of Representatives. The bill urges the United States Department of State to approve the permit application necessary to allow construction and operation of the TransCanada Keystone XL Pipeline that runs between the U.S and Canada. The resolution was a joint effort with Senator Cliff Hite (R-Findlay), designated as Senate Concurrent Resolution 7.

Rep. Adams, who sponsored the resolution, and is a member of the Policy and Legislative Oversight Committee, released the following statement regarding the passage of the resolution:

I am encouraged by the passage of House Concurrent Resolution 9 through the House. With the cost of imported oil steadily increasing and the fact that the United States is a major energy consumer on a world-wide scale, it is of the upmost importance that we strongly urge the U.S government to take the necessary steps towards operation of the Keystone Pipeline. The development of this pipeline would also be a major source of employment for workers from all over the country, and would be a boost to our economy. It is my hope that through this resolution, our American government can improve our country by making it a more self-reliant, resource-rich and prosperous place with the operation of this vital pipeline.

The effort would employ over 10,000 workers, including providing jobs in construction and manufacturing. The Keystone Pipeline runs from the oil sands in Canada and the Bakken formation in Saskatchewan, Montana, and North Dakota.
