Ray Introduces Legislation to Support Foster, Kinship Caregivers

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) today introduced legislation to support foster and kinship caregivers by providing publicly funded childcare. Ray is sponsoring the bill alongside State Rep. Andrea White (R-Kettering).

Under the legislation, foster and kinship caregivers may receive publicly funded childcare by facilities licensed by the Department of Children and Youth for the time they are at work or a program of education.

“We have a responsibility to uplift and support those who are caring for our most vulnerable children,” said Ray. “I believe this legislation will provide caregivers peace of mind that their children are taken care of as they focus on providing for their families.”

This legislation awaits a bill number and House committee assignment.
