Pavliga Supports Local Arts Funding Coming to Portage County
State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announces local funding for organizations in Kent and Aurora for the arts. The funds are through the Ohio Arts Economic Relief Grant Program.
“Throughout my time as state representative in Portage County, I have had several visits to appreciate our wonderful arts and cultural attractions in the district,” Pavliga said. “It’s important we invest in our arts to bolster that creativity and our exceptional talent within our communities.”
Pavliga supported the funding through House Bill 45, which was approved by the Ohio House and signed into law during the 134th General Assembly.
Portage County organizations are set to receive the following funds:
- Aurora Community Theatre - $15,548
- Western Reserve Folk Arts Association in Kent - $159,370
The Ohio Arts Economic Relief Grant Program offers flexibility in fund usage, allowing recipients to allocate the grants toward various essential areas. The funds can be utilized for employee compensation (excluding bonuses), recruitment, rehiring, and training expenses. Additionally, the grants can be applied to rent or mortgage payments, as well as general operating costs.
