The Ohio House of Representatives today passed Amended Substitute Senate Bill 1, which establishes the OhioMeansJobs Workforce Development Revolving Loan Program and Fund to strengthen job training and continuing education opportunities for Ohioans.

Am. Sub. S.B. 1 authorizes a revolving fund to provide loans, funded by $25 million in existing revenue from casino licensure fees, to Ohioans seeking job training or education. Loans include up to $10,000 for students pursuing training in certain high-demand fields and up to $100,000 for institutions for certain programs.

“The Workforce Development Revolving Loan Program will help us to achieve our workforce development goals and allow Ohioans to get the training they need to be successful,” said Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina). “Ohio is blessed to have a talented, eager workforce, and it is important that we provide more opportunities for Ohioans to hone their craft and gain job skills that will benefit them and their families.”

Am. Sub. S.B. 1 passed unanimously and will be sent back to the Senate for concurrence.
