Ohio House Adopts Resolution in Support of Israel
Following the adoption of House Resolution 340, which seeks to commend Israel for its relationship with the United States and support the self-governance and self-defense of Israel, State Representative Andy Thompson (R-Marietta), who sponsored the resolution, issued the following statement:
“It is clear that the people of Ohio have a strong desire to see their state government promote productive and friendly relations with one of America’s greatest allies, the State of Israel, and the resolution adopted by the House today reflects that desire. This is a matter that transcends politics and partisanship, and the resolution is grounded in historic truths that undergird Israel’s legitimate right to sovereignty and security.
“A concerted campaign is being waged against the Jewish state to attack its legitimacy in virtually every aspect of its historic, legal, and cultural endeavors, with the aim of undermining the very foundations of Israel's existence. As Israel faces constant attempts of delegitimization at the United Nations and at the hands of other non-governmental agencies, now is the time for Ohio to stand up for Israel. I’m grateful that this resolution is supported by so many members of the House.”
