COLUMBUS – State Representative Kris Jordan (R-Ostrander) and the Ohio House of Representatives voted Monday in favor of making common-sense income tax cuts and reforms.

House Bill 110, the state’s two-year operating budget, included Representative Kris Jordan’s municipal income tax proposal that would repeal municipalities’ ability to tax residents who neither live in, nor work in their jurisdiction due to COVID-19 work-from-home arrangements made over the past year.

“This is a big win for Delaware County taxpayers,” said Jordan. “This bill will return hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, in hard-earned income tax refunds back to residents by ending this unfair practice and providing recourse for taxpayers to request refunds from municipalities who incorrectly withheld taxes from them.”

The legislation also cuts the state’s personal income tax rates by 3% across-the-board and eliminates the top marginal bracket, simplifying the tax code and broadening the effect of the cut.

“This long-term cut will keep more dollars in the pockets of Delaware County residents,” said Jordan. “This cut is a win-win for our local taxpayers, residents and businesses who will see these dollars better spent in their own communities, and not by the state.”   House Bill 110 was passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 82-13 and heads to the Governor for his signature.
