Innovate the Code Legislation Passes Ohio House
COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives yesterday passed House Bill 76, Innovate the Code, with overwhelming bipartisan support, announced bill sponsor, State Rep. Thomas Hall (R-Madison Twp.).
The legislation will save Ohio taxpayers millions of dollars by modernizing the Ohio Revised Code.
Many state agencies and departments are required to use outdated methods to send or publish information. This bill will update and simplify permitted methods of communication, such as electronic communication, in order to make Ohio more efficient and save taxpayer dollars.
“This is a good government bill,” said Hall during House session. “I am honored to have led this legislative charge that will both support Ohio taxpayers and make our state government better.”
Over the next ten years, through efficiency improvements, the State of Ohio will save an estimated $44 million and 58,000 hours of cost and time for both taxpayers and government professionals as a result of this legislation.
House Bill 76 now heads to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
