Today, Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) unveiled the “Buckeye Pathway,” a document outlining the major policy priorities for the House Republican Caucus for the 132nd General Assembly.

“The Buckeye Pathway lays out the major themes and priorities that the Republican caucus will be focusing on over the coming two years,” Rosenberger said. “This is truly a member-driven initiative to help us tackle some of Ohio’s greatest challenges. The Buckeye Pathway is the product of many hours of collaboration and input by the members and our policy staff in generating the objectives and content outlined in the document.”

Covering topics ranging from infrastructure to curbing the state’s opioid and heroin addiction epidemic, the Buckeye Pathway focuses on three overarching goals to guide members when introducing legislation:

• Improving Ohio’s economic environment
• Enhancing opportunities for all Ohioans
• Strengthening families and communities

“We believe it is important to provide the public with transparency as to our policy objectives, and no less important to provide our members with a playbook that they can use to help design more finely-tuned bills that align with these objectives,” said House Republican Policy Chair Rep. Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati). “The Buckeye Pathway fulfills both of these goals.”

This policy agenda builds off of the extensive work House Republicans have done in recent years. This includes during the previous General Assembly in leading the charge on priorities such as reducing burdens on entrepreneurs looking to start a new business, strengthening accountability of charter schools and expanding resources to fight the scourge of heroin and opiate addiction.

The Buckeye Pathway outlines House Republicans’ vision on several key policy areas, such as regulation, energy policy, workforce development, education, health care and crime.
