COLUMBUS—State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) yesterday introduced legislation that will protect Ohio children by prohibiting libraries from distributing certain materials to individuals under the age of 18 without consent from their parents or guardians.
The bill will identify materials that are “harmful to juveniles” and therefore required to receive parental consent. Libraries that continue to distribute harmful materials to minors without permission from the parents will lose state funding.
“This legislation protects Ohio’s minors and supports the authority of parents to have a say in what their children are consuming,” said Cutrona.
