Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) today released the following statement on the passage of House Bill 130, the “End Demand Act,” by the Ohio House of Representatives:

“Today the members of the Ohio House of Representatives once again crossed party lines to end the devastating practice of human sex trafficking in our state. The “End Demand Act,” which Rep. Teresa Fedor has worked so passionately on, will make needed changes to protect victims and hold offenders accountable.

“With the passage of House Bill 130, we are not only reducing the market demand for sex trafficking, but providing our state’s law enforcement and justice system with the tools they needs to keep more johns from participating in this despicable practice. It’s very important that Ohio put an end to human trafficking, rather than allow it to flourish. The “End Demand Act” is one more step in the right direction, and I’m proud that the Ohio House has taken action to protect so many of our state’s young people.”
