Ashtabula YMCA Receives Grant for Boating Safety

COLUMBUS –The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft recently awarded the Ashtabula YMCA a Boating Education and Safety Grant, announced State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula).

The YMCA will receive $12,727.61 to purchase a new motor for a powerboat, replacement kayaks and sups, safety equipment, and maintenance items. YMCA staff will also attend ODNR Paddling Instructor and Ohio Boating Education Course Instructor classes.

“This funding will ensure that instructors have the proper equipment and training they need for their students to have safe and enjoyable experiences out on the water,” said Fowler Arthur.

The Division awarded just under $225,000 to fund 10 programs across Ohio.
