Rep. McNally announces $251,762 in support for 19 local arts programs and organizations
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced $251,762 in funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) for 19 artists, arts and cultural organizations, students, educators, and public arts programs in Mahoning County as part of OAC’s initial and major state fiscal year 2025 funding round.
“This state budget funding is meant to help our communities thrive, and these grants have been awarded to distinct institutions and organizations in our region,” said Rep. McNally. “I am so happy they can continue enriching our experiences and lives with even more resources.”
The OAC grants include operating support (Sustainability, Statewide Arts Services Organizations or SASO), project support (ArtSTART, ArtsNEXT, ArtsRISE, Ohio Artists on Tour), arts learning (Arts Partnership, TeachArtsOhio), and support for individual artists (Traditional Arts Apprenticeships).
Organizations and operators within Mahoning County receiving funds include:
· $5,182 for the Henry H Stambaugh Auditorium Association (Arts Partnership)
· $15,226 for the Students Motivated by the Arts - SMARTS (Arts Partnership)
· $17,469 for the Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past (ArtsNEXT)
· $8,261 for the Youngstown Playhouse (ArtsNEXT)
· $3,373 for the Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past (ArtSTART)
· $4,022 for the Students Motivated by the Arts - SMARTS (ArtSTART)
· $14,806 for the Ballet Western Reserve, Inc (Sustainability)
· $107,551 for the Butler Institute of American Art (Sustainability)
· $6,586 for the Lit Youngstown (Sustainability)
· $12,200 for the McDonough Museum of Art, Youngstown State University (Sustainability)
· $8,833 for the Opera Western Reserve, Inc. (Sustainability)
· $5,203 for the Stambaugh Chorus (Sustainability)
· $5,250 for the Chaney Middle School, Youngstown City School District (TeachArtsOhio)
· $5,250 for the East Middle School, Youngstown City School District (TeachArtsOhio)
· $4,550 for the Harding Elementary School, Youngstown City School District (TeachArtsOhio)
· $4,550 for the Kirkmere Elementary School, Youngstown City School District TeachArtsOhio)
· $4,550 for the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, Youngstown City School District TeachArtsOhio)
· $4,550 for the Paul C. Bunn Elementary School, Youngstown City School (TeachArtsOhio)
· $5,250 for the Rayen Early College Middle School, Youngstown City School District (TeachArtsOhio)
· $4,550 for the Taft Elementary School, Youngstown City School District (TeachArtsOhio)
· $4,550 for the Volney Rogers Elementary School, Youngstown City School District (TeachArtsOhio)
The $22.7 in OAC grants were made out to 935 recipients around Ohio. Funding to support the grants was made possible by the state’s 2024-2025 operating budget, which included a record-setting nearly $51.1 million state appropriation to OAC.
