Rep. Driehaus, Ohio House Vote for Capital Appropriations Bill

State Rep. Denise Driehaus (D-Cincinnati) and the Ohio House today voted for the passage of the state’s capital appropriations bill, House Bill 497. Capital appropriations are used for infrastructure improvements and reflect an investment in our communities.

“With over $69,000,000 in Capital funds going to Hamilton County, I’m thrilled that nearly $44,000,000 is going to my district,” said Rep. Driehaus. “The University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati State and the Cincinnati Zoo are paramount to the education, culture and economy of Hamilton County – which is why it’s so important that they are sufficiently funded.”

Projects in Rep. Driehaus’ district total $43,975,000 and include the Medical Science Building Renovation ($28,800,000) and Wherry and Health Professions Building Rehabilitation ($8,000,000) at the University of Cincinnati; the Center for Workforce Innovation and Education ($4,600,000), Hebrew Union American Jewish Archives ($225,000), and Jewish Family Service Center in Cincinnati ($50,000) at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College; the Cincinnati Zoo ($2,000,000); and the Stowe House State Memorial ($300,000).

Included in the bill was $675 million allocated for primary and secondary facilities, $454.5 million for higher education, with the remainder for public works and other agencies.

House Bill 497 now goes to the Senate for consideration.
