Rep. Clyde Announces Funds for Ohio Means Internships and Co-ops at Kent State University
COLUMBUS—State Representative Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) announced today that the state has approved $724,533 for the administration and development of the Choose Ohio First Co-op/Internship Program through Kent State University.
“In a job market where real-world experience is critical for new graduates, I am eager to see more opportunities for KSU students to improve their skills and make meaningful connections with employers,” Rep. Clyde said. “Keeping college grads in Ohio has been a challenge, and I hope this program will help our young people and our local businesses to advance and succeed.”
The Choose Ohio First Co-op/Internship Program was signed into law by former Governor Ted Strickland in 2008 to promote and encourage cooperative education programs or internships for students at Ohio institutions of higher education. These programs will attract students to study in Ohio and stay in Ohio upon the completion of their coursework. Additionally, the program will support the growth of Ohio's businesses by providing them with Ohio's most talented students. Special emphasis will be placed on opportunities in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical fields.
Rep. Clyde represents the 75th Ohio House District, serving Kent, Ravenna, Streetsboro, Central and Southern Portage County.
