Rep. Brown condemns rushed advancement of anti-voting legislation
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester), Ranking Member on the Ohio House Government Oversight committee, today decried advancement of HB 294 and HJR 6.
“The advancement of the two anti-voting pieces of legislation is a travesty for all Ohioans and an assault on the sacred freedom to vote. The process in which HB 294 and HJR 6 was shoved through this committee during lame duck is shameful and nothing but an abuse of power,” said Rep. Brown. “Republicans not only ignored the will of the people, but they also ignored the voice of the people too. Testimony was drastically limited. Amendments were jammed though. Democracy was trampled. It’s a dark day for all Ohioans.”
The House is scheduled for session Tuesday and Wednesday this week at 1p ET.
