COLUMBUS— The Ohio House Democratic Caucus this evening announced its new leadership team for the 135th General Assembly. In an all-caucus vote, Democrats re-elected Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) as House Minority Leader.
“I am beyond grateful to my fellow Democratic members for being given the opportunity to lead our caucus once again in the next General Assembly. Together, this dedicated and diverse team will do whatever it takes to make Ohio the greatest state to raise a family and start a business. Our entire caucus is united in fighting for the freedoms we know Ohioans truly believe in,” said Leader Russo. “We look forward to working across the aisle with our Republican colleagues to ensure Ohioans have every opportunity to find good paying jobs, secure affordable and accessible healthcare, and maintain their fundamental freedoms to live and work with dignity.”
Additional members of House leadership include incoming Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) and re-elected Minority Whip Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park).
“I want to thank my Democratic colleagues for their support in me to serve as Assistant Minority Leader in the 135th General Assembly. I’m excited to work with this strong leadership team to take on the important issues facing Ohioans. And by working together with members of both parties, I know we can build a future that works for all of us,” said Rep. Jarrells.
“I am honored to once again be elected by the members of the Democratic Caucus to serve as Minority Whip. As we look ahead to the 135th General Assembly, Democrats are ready to hit the ground running to deliver results and protect the freedoms of every Ohioan,” said Rep. Miranda.
Rep. Richard D. Brown (D-Canal Winchester) will step down as Assistant Minority Whip, but looks forward to serving his constituents in the 135th General Assembly. House Democrats elected Rep. Tavia Galonski (D-Akron) to serve as Assistant Minority Whip.
“I am humbled by the trust placed in me by my colleagues to serve as Assistant Minority Whip and am eternally grateful for their support,” said Rep. Galonski. “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve in the legislature over the last five and a half years, and I look forward to working with this leadership team in the new General Assembly as we continue to fight for a brighter future for all Ohioans.”
