COLUMBUS – Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today issued a statement after Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Jackson will be the first Black woman to ever serve as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

“This is a historic moment for America. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is a woman with extensive qualifications and extraordinary intellect, and she will serve our country well,” said Leader Russo. “Her confirmation is a key step to ensuring the highest court in the land reflects and acknowledges the diversity of our great nation.”

Judge Jackson, who currently serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, has extensive legal experience, previously serving eight years as a federal trial court judge and holding three federal clerkships. She is also the first Black woman and first former federal public defender to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.
