Ohio House Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Kristin Boggs (D-Columbus) today issued a statement following a meeting of the House Rules and Reference Committee, which held a second hearing on a resolution to expel former Republican Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford). Householder testified in person before committee members Tuesday.

“What we saw and heard today confirms what we’ve known since the news of the alleged $60 million corruption scheme was uncovered—restoring the integrity of the People’s House begins the day the disgraced former speaker is no longer a member of this chamber. It is past time we act to remove him, and that’s why Democrats introduced our resolution and moved to send the question of expulsion to the floor. We hope that our Republican colleagues will seriously consider taking this up during session this week and join us to expel Larry Householder so we can finally get back to the important work the People of Ohio sent us here to do.”
