Richardson Recognizes Human Trafficking Awareness Day
COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) today recognizes Human Trafficking Awareness Day, a federally acknowledged, and soon to be dedicated day in Ohio. Richardson’s work on House Bill 561 and amendment to Senate Bill 63, played a significant role in this accomplishment as the signing of S.B. 63 by Governor DeWine on January 2nd codified the awareness day.
“I am thrilled to announce Ohio’s Human Trafficking Awareness Day was signed into law on January 2nd,” said Richardson. “Next January 11th will be official. Ohio will have a day dedicated to learning more about human trafficking, supporting victims/survivors, and the organizations striving to prevent this crime. It is my hope that one day all Ohioans will recognize the signs of trafficking and know how to help stop it.”
Richardson also noted, “Today is not just another awareness day, but rather a call to action. If every Ohioan takes just 5 minutes of their day, to either learn a new fact or share the National Human Trafficking Hotline number, 1 (888) 373-7888, we could save lives.”
H.B. 561 was joint sponsored by Representative Dontavius L. Jarrells.
