Rep. Richardson Leads Visit to Youngstown Air Reserve Station
State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) this week visited the Youngstown Air Reserve Station (YARS), joined by State Representatives Ty Mathews (R-Findlay), Haraz Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg), Nick Santucci (R-Niles), and David Thomas (R-Jefferson).
The visit and tour involved meetings with leaders of the base to gain feedback about how the General Assembly can help support military personnel and the installation’s infrastructure. As part of the visit, representatives learned more about the unit’s organization, general mission and base priorities, as well as any challenges or issues that the General Assembly and the Veterans and Military Development Committee can help support.
“This visit was a great opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the base and to demonstrate the state’s commitment to supporting our military forces,” said Representative Richardson, who serves as Chair of the House Veterans and Military Development Committee. “During our tour and meeting, we were able to learn more about the base’s mission and had a wonderful exchange of ideas and information. It’s clear that the Youngstown Air Reserve Station plays an important role within their community, and we were grateful for the time to hear from them directly about their priorities.”
“I greatly appreciated the opportunity to visit the Youngstown Air Reserve Station with my colleagues,” said Representative Mathews, Vice Chair of the Veterans and Military Development Committee. “These kinds of visits help inform our policy discussions in the Ohio House and are critical to our conversations around how we can best support our military.”
The host wing of the installation is the 910th Airlift Wing, an Air Force Reserve unit, carrying out mission sets of tactical Airlift, agile combat support and employment as well as the Department of Defense’s only large-area, fixed wing aerial spray capability.
