Fischer Reintroduces Legislation to Exempt Overtime Wages from Personal Income Tax

COLUMBUS— Representative Tex Fischer (R-Boardman) is reintroducing legislation to help hardworking Ohioans keep more money in their pockets.

Formerly House Bill 685 in the 135th General Assembly, the bill will revise current law to allow people to deduct their overtime wages from their state income tax.

"Every day, tens of thousands of Ohioans will pick up an extra shift to help cover the rising cost of living and provide for their families,” said Fischer. “We need to create a culture that rewards hard work and allow our workers to keep more of what they earn."

The bill awaits a number and committee assignment.
