Manchester Appointed to Health Oversight and Advisory Committee
COLUMBUS – Ohio House Speaker Bob Cupp (R-Lima) recently appointed State Rep. Susan Manchester (R-Waynesfield) as a member of the Ohio Health Oversight and Advisory Committee.
A product of Senate Bill 22, the committee is tasked with providing oversight on any actions taken by the Governor, Ohio Department of Health (ODH), or any agency in response to a state of emergency.
“Although Ohio is moving forward from the pandemic, government should always be accountable to the people,” said Manchester. “I look forward to serving on this committee to ensure my constituents and all Ohioans have a voice in the decision making process during a state of emergency.”
The panel is also responsible for overseeing actions taken by ODH and the Director of Health for preventing the spread of contagious or infectious disease and for controlling and suppressing the cause of disease. To assist the committee in performing its duties, the chair has the authority to issue subpoenas if authorized by the committee, Speaker of the House, and President of the Senate.
The Ohio Health Oversight and Advisory Committee is bipartisan and consists of members from the House and Senate.
