Rep. Denson, House Dems Call on Governor DeWine to Veto Anti-Economic, Anti-Workers' Rights Senate Bill 1
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati) Wednesday along with other members of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine respectfully requesting he veto Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Higher Education Destruction Act.
“Senate Bill 1 is a misguided attack on higher education that puts vital scholarships and DEI programs at risk while undermining our universities' economic contributions. As lawmakers, we should strive to attract potential students and educators to our state, not drive them away. I urge Governor DeWine to veto this destructive legislation and prioritize the needs of Ohio's students and workforce,” said Rep. Denson.
In trying to solve problems that do not exist, SB 1 creates new issues that will increase costs, stifle growth, and prevent Ohio’s young adults from reaching their full potential.
