Rep. Denson Announces Bethany House Services Receives $699K to Support Emergency Shelter Operations
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati) today announced that the Ohio Department of Development has awarded $699K in funding to Bethany House Services, Inc. in Hamilton County. This grant is part of a $20.5M statewide initiative to combat homelessness and provide critical support for emergency shelters and prevention programs.
“Bethany House has been a cornerstone of support for families and individuals in our community who are experiencing housing instability," said Rep. Denson. "This funding represents an investment in the future of our neighbors, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to rebuild their lives and secure stable housing.
This award will fund Bethany House's 194-bed emergency shelter serving households with children and chronically homeless individuals. Funding will be used for shelter operations and essential services, including housing search and placement, housing-focused case management, and referrals to mainstream resources. Over the next two years, Bethany House is expected to serve an estimated 2,200 people, 88% of whom will be expected to leave the shelter for permanent housing after an average stay.
