Rep. Baker Announces $6.5M in the Capital Budget Funds to the University of Cincinnati for the Ohio Cyber Range Project
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Rachel Baker (D-Cincinnati) today announced the Controlling Board’s release of $6.5M in Capital Budget funds approved for the University of Cincinnati’s Ohio Cyber Range Project, which is creating a statewide cybersecurity testing and training environment.
“This is an exciting investment into innovation with the potential for large-scale impact,” said Rep. Baker. “This investment will have an extraordinary influence on education, workforce development, and economic development. It places Ohio at the forefront of statewide impact on cybersecurity.”
The Ohio Cyber Range project is a statewide effort designed to create a cybersecurity testing and training environment, develop a robust cyber workforce, foster an informed public on the importance of cybersecurity, and be a cyber information clearinghouse. The Ohio Cyber Range is a learning and teaching tool for students and educators at the K-12 and collegiate level, a workforce development tool, cyber incident response team training tool, and a test bed for cyber programs and systems.
