Rep. Baker Announces $1.1M in Grants to Combat Homelessness in Hamilton County
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Rachel Baker (D-Cincinnati) today announced that the Ohio Department of Development awarded $1.1M in grants to combat homelessness in Hamilton County.
“The agencies in Hamilton County receiving these grants are cornerstones to serving the unhoused in our county,” said Rep. Baker. “The system-level coordination displayed by these agencies provide a strong strategy to assist those experiencing homelessness and to intervene early and provide prevention assistance before homelessness occurs.”
Funding was allocated to Strategies to End Homelessness, Inc. and subrecipient agencies, including Bethany House Services, Freestore Foodbank and Talbert House. The program expects to assist 40 households with rapid re-housing and 200 households with homelessness prevention during the two-year period.
In total, $20.5M was awarded through the Homeless Crisis Response program to assist 47 nonprofit and local government agencies across the state with homelessness prevention, rapid re-housing, and emergency shelter services. The funds will assist 34 agencies operating emergency shelters and support 13 housing stability programs to benefit 64,676 Ohioans.
