Rep. Grim Honored as a Menstrual Equity Champion

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Michele Grim (D-Toledo) was honored as a Menstrual Equity Champion by PERIOD. and Period Law, organizations fighting for access to menstrual products. Rep. Grim was recognized for her “Outstanding Commitment to Menstrual Equity Across Ohio” during the 2023 legislative session. 

“Period products are an essential need. Ohio’s new state budget requires schools to make period products available to students in grades 6-12 and delivers $5 million in funding for this. I’m honored to be recognized by PERIOD. and Period Law as a Menstrual Equity Champion,” said Rep. Grim. “Providing period products breaks down barriers for many students attending school. No student should be distracted from a day of learning due to the anxiety of not having the necessary period product.”

During development of the House version of the state operating budget, Rep. Grim advocated for the requirement of period products in schools. 

Over 476,00 students will be impacted by this new requirement starting October 3rd, 2023.
