Rep. Grim Celebrates Passage of Issue 1, Says Victory Returns Fundamental Freedom to Women, Families

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Michele Grim (D-Toledo) today released the following statement concerning Issue 1’s resounding passage by Ohio’s voters:

“Ohioans have spoken. Private medical decisions about pregnancy and abortion should be made by patients with their doctors without interference from politicians. Republican leaders in the General Assembly have already made it clear that they refuse to accept the will of the people and will continue to wage war on women and our reproductive freedom. I am proud to stand with Ohioans every day in defense of our constitutional rights,” said Rep. Grim.

Issue 1’s victory now enshrines abortion rights into Ohio’s constitution and guarantees every individual a right to make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions, including but not limited to decisions on, contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one’s own pregnancy, and miscarriage care.
